Sfursat 5 Stelle DOCG has a garnet color with ruby reflections of good intensity, unique aromas of ripe fruit (plum) and sweet spices (cinnamon and clove) that comes from the drying technique. Extremely balanced, rich and full-bodied taste. The flavor is concentrated, vigorous, intense and pleasant, with an aristocratic background of ripe blackberry and spices. The wine: it is produced with the typical Chiavennasca grape (Nebbiolo), from the dialect “ciu venasca”, which is the most suitable grape for producing wine.
The vineyard: the vines are located on the slopes of the Rhaetian Alps facing south, cultivated in the largest terraced area in Italy.

Only the best bunches placed in drying are selected for the Sfursat 5 Stelle DOCG.

The drying happens thanks to the cold and dry winds of the Valley, lasts 90-100 days and the weight loss is about 30%. The wine is made between the end of December and the beginning of January, and then it is aged for two years, 12 months of which in French oak barriques.

The origins of the winery date back to 1897, when Nino Negri, born in Aprica, following his marriage with Amelia Galli, decided to start the wine business in Chiuro based in the historic Palazzo Quadrio from the 1400s where are made the great wines of Valtellina.

Nino Negri was one of the first wineries in Valtellina, in 1956, to produce Sfursat with the natural drying method of the grapes. Today, the “5-star” is his most prestigious Sfursat.
