CASTELLO DI CIGOGNOLA

Castello di Cigognola presents itself as a lean entrepreneurial company, a wine start-up with its own modus operandi in which technique and creativity are in steady dialogue. A place of personal growth, where scientific research, new experiences and new frontiers of knowledge and technology are boosted through a generational exchange between expert consultants and skilled young professionals.

The management of the vineyards combines precision viticulture and organic approach, intervening as little as possible and only where necessary.

This month we will include some bottles from this winery in our Wine List, 3 different expression of Pinot Noir:

CASTELLO DI CIGOGNOLA

2020
Spontaneous fermentation in open tonneaux, aged in cement, wood and bottle

DOC Pinot nero dell’Otrepò Pavese
100% Pinot Noir
Extensive references to small red fruits, with delicate spicy notes. An ever-changing, ever-changing wine in the glass. The crunchiness of the fruit is also found in the taste which vibrates with great freshness.

MORATTI ROSÉ

2015
Rosé sparkling Classic Method, dosage decided after blind tasting for each disgorgement Aged 60 months on the lees

DOCG Oltrepo’ Pavese Metodo Classico
100% Pinot Noir
The highest part of East-facing vineyard offers fruity grapes that blend into the salmon-cherry pink hues of this fresh, tangy rosé. Each sip erupts with the sweet brightness of strawberries, red currants and raspberries: the vibrant palette of the underwood on your tongue.

MORATTI CUVÉE ‘MORE PAS DOSÉ

Sans Année
Rosé sparkling Classic Method, dosage decided after blind tasting for each disgorgement Aged 60 months on the lees

DOCG Oltrepo’ Pavese Metodo Classico
100% Pinot Noir
Minute and very persistent perlage.
Brilliant straw. Fresh notes of red fruits, plum, green apple. In the glass body and freshness meet to express themselves in an equivalent way.

Perched high on a hill in the Oltrepò Pavese region of Italy and dominating a network of splendid vineyards, the castle looks out onto the panorama of the Scuropasso Valley.
The area of Oltrepò, once called Old Piedmont, was part of the domains of the Duchy of Savoy. Land of Barbera and Pinot Noir wines, today of Nebbiolo as well.

The core of Castello di Cigognola is the human being and his values, responsible for protecting the environment and the rights of the people directly and indirectly involved in the supply chain. A goal that translates into various areas, starting with respect for vines and biodiversity in the vineyard.
