Cicognola Castle, nestled among the vineyards of Oltrepò Pavese, is where Gian Marco and Letizia Moratti cultivate their passion for wine.

Thirty-three hectares cultivated on the hills that divide Broni from Casteggio, where the Moratti family produces wines of territorial excellence together with Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy’s most esteemed wine makers.

This month we will include some bottles from this winery in our Wine List, including 3 Classic Method:

Blanc de Noir Pas Dosé, No sugar added after disgorgement, Aged 72 months on the lees

White sparkling Classic Method Pas Dosé
100% Pinot Noir
The vines reserved for this wine grow on the North-West facing side of the Cigognola hill. This deliberate placement allows them to soak in enough warm evening sunlight to fully develop the elegant, round taste of ripeness complimented by sparkling freshness and fine perlage.

2013 Rosé Brut, Dosage decided after blind tasting for each disgorgement, Aged 60 months on the lees

Rosé sparkling Classic Method
100% Pinot Noir
The highest part of East-facing vineyard offers fruity grapes that blend into the salmon-cherry pink hues of this fresh, tangy rosé. Each sip erupts with the sweet brightness of strawberries, red currants and raspberries: the vibrant palette of the underwood on your tongue.

Blanc de Noir S.A. Pas Dosé, No sugar added after disgorgement, Aged between 18 and 24 months on the lees

White sparkling Classic Method Pas Dosé
Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
The limestone-clay soil of Cigognola’s hills provides a treasure of minerals and nutrients to our Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vineyards, granting the resulting wines bold flavours and a muscular structure.

The area of Oltrepò, once called Old Piedmont, was part of the domains of the Duchy of Savoy. Land of Barbera and Pinot Noir wines, today of Nebbiolo as well, thanks to the vision of Gian Marco and Letizia Moratti, it is a phenomenon suspended between tradition and innovation.

The Arnaboldi, Brichetto and Moratti families are much attached to this ancestral residence where they have celebrated and still celebrate their anniversaries and social events.
